# Everton fans defend goalkeeper Jordan Pickford despite blunder

**Everton fans have shown their full support for goalkeeper Jordan Pickford after a busy Monday night for the England number one against Spain in the Nations League.**

Gareth Southgate’s men walked away with an impressive 3-2 victory in Seville but it could’ve been a different result after the 24-year-old almost gifted a goal to Spanish forward Rodrigo in the second half. Instead of kicking the ball up field, Pickford decided to take on Rodrigo in a risky position, trying to turn his way out of trouble, only to be caught in possession before then making a deciding tackle on the Valencia player to clear the ball out of play, much to the relief of England fans.

Pickford has since then been heavily criticised for the chance he took, but Everton fans have defended their keeper. Despite the incident, Pickford put in a really good performance with accurate long balls and some vital saves.

Here are some of the Twitter reactions by the club’s fans:

> Down to earth and a fantastic goalkeeper too, keep up the amazing work, even the greatest make mistakes fella 🙂
