# Everton: Fans flood Andre Gomes Instagram post amid sideline spell

**Andre Gomes was stretchered off in the [Toffees’ 1-1 draw to Tottenham at Goodison Park](https://www.google.com/search?q=everton+1-1+spurs&rlz=1C1DVJR_enGB846GB846&oq=everton+1-1+spurs&aqs=chrome..69i57j0l3.3501j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#sie=m;/g/11fls3h3gv;2;/m/02_tc;dt;fp;1;;), prompting well wishes and commiserations from all over social media.**

The Portuguese midfielder, who [signed for Everton in the summer](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48764807) following a hugely successful loan spell the previous season, amassing an 84.8% pass success rate whilst grabbing a goal and an assist, [as per WhoScored.com](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/118123/History/Andr%C3%A9-Gomes), has been ruled out of action for the foreseeable future after undergoing ankle surgery following the Son Heung-min challenge.

The Spurs winger was reportedly distraught after he was sent off for the tackle, with the South Korean international later apologising and [wishing Gomes the best](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWX9IN7hbgo) in his recovery.

Amid the 25-year-old’s recovery, he has had time to celebrate landmarks on his time off and wish his spouse a[happy birthday on Instagram](https://twitter.com/EvertonNewsFeed/status/1194700204433383424).

Given the traumatic nature of the injury at home to Spurs, Toffees supporters were just glad to see him reporting on some positive news for a change.

Here’s how they brilliantly reacted to the post.
