# Everton: Fans heap praise on Romelu Lukaku’s Goodison career

**Everton fans have been piling the praise onto former Blues striker Romelu Lukaku.**

Twitter fan account [@thetoffees\_com](https://twitter.com/thetoffees_com/status/1262669324290056192) has asked fellow supporters how the Belgian will be remembered for his time with the club. Many Evertonians have responded with positive comments on their former forward.

Lukaku joined the Merseyside outfit in 2014 for a club record fee of £28 million from Chelsea (via [BBC Sport](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/28569197)). During his time with Everton, the 27-year-old scored 87 goals and assisted 29 in a total of 166 appearances (via [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/romelu-lukaku/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/96341)).

The Belgium international left for pastures new after Manchester United [snapped him up for a hefty £75m](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/40550934) in 2017, and the Toffees have since struggled to replace Lukaku’s clinical ability in front of goal.

Many Everton fans still only have good things to say about the ex-Blue though. One supporter has said his ‘class’ is ‘exactly what we needed’, whilst another thinks ‘he’ll be back one day’.

> as our best premier league goalscorer, however blues will always remember his famous interviews on international duty…

> He was class, exactly what we needed, and he was hounded by the divorced dads in the Park End. Best PL era striker we had.

> Best finisher we’ve had since Lineker but unfortunately wanted Champions league football and to compete for trophies none of which we can offer him ,unless Ancelotti can deliver 🤞🏻
