# Everton: Fans laud Dominic Calvert-Lewin after his gesture to Gareth Southgate

**Plenty of Everton fans have praised [Dominic Calvert-Lewin](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/everton-fc-news/dominic-calvert-lewin-set-for-england-debut-v-wales/) after his gesture to Gareth Southgate while on duty for England.**

As shared in a video from [Football Daily](https://twitter.com/ToffeeTVEFC/status/1314199536328343553), the 23-year old decided to remove his hat when he met the Three Lions manager, about which Southgate was chuffed.

Indeed, Calvert-Lewin was looking to make a good impression on the coach and it worked, as he followed up with a goal in his debut for the senior team as England ran out 3-0 winners against Ryan Giggs’ Wales in a friendly at Wembley Stadium.

The call-up is a real testament to the hugely impressive start to the 2020/21 season that the striker has had under Carlo Ancelotti at Goodison Park, scoring no fewer than nine goals in just six matches in all competitions for the Toffees, according to [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/dominic-calvert-lewin/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/306024/plus/0?saison=2020&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=).

> And seem to have a great sense of humour too. Still got a core of English lads; like every successful Everton team ever (given they existed in different eras) and I think it’s important for knowing what our club is all about and has been all about for 130+ years.
