# Everton: Fans love link to Newcastle United ace Matty Longstaff; West Ham United also keen

**Lots of Everton fans have been loving a transfer link to Newcastle United ace [Matty Longstaff](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/newcastle-united-transfer-rumours/matthew-longstaff-profile/) as [The Chronicle](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/newcastle-united-look-make-striker-18701630) have reported that the Merseyside club, as well as West Ham United, are looking at the possibility of signing him in the summer window.**

As per the outlet, Longstaff, who is now out of contract, is also attracting interest from abroad, namely FC Schalke 04 and Udinese, with the [latter apparently his preferred choice of destination](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/newcastle-united-transfer-rumours/newcastle-united-matty-longstaff-still-intends-to-sign-for-udinese/).

However, although these teams would not have to pay a transfer fee for the England U20 international, they will still have to pay compensation.

Nevertheless, to potentially get the central midfield player on a free may be a good bit of business if Carlo Ancelotti takes up the opportunity.

Longstaff enjoyed a breakthrough 2019/20 season at St. James’ Park, scoring three goals in 15 games in all competitions, according to [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/matthew-longstaff/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/484387/plus/0?saison=2019&verein=762&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=).

Being just 20 years of age as well, the Englishman still has a lot of potential, and to get him on a free transfer may well represent good business.

> Agreed, english, young and will be out to prove a point – in this market a free agent in a position we desperately need with resale value

> Is he a central midfielder? Worth a chance if we also signed a proven main target as well. As some have said he’s young and will have resale value. 💙
