# Everton: Fans praise the commitment of Tom Davies after his recent comments

**Everton fans have [praised](https://twitter.com/Everton/status/1196778511073251328) local lad Tom Davies after speaking out about his commitment to the club and his lifestyle changes in order to improve as a player.**

The 21-year-old has cemented his place in the squad after emerging through the Ronald Koeman regime and shone during his side’s [4-0](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/38545988) win over Manchester City in 2016.

Davies, who came through the academy at Finch Farm, made 50 Premier League appearances at 19 during a [1-0](https://www.si.com/soccer/2018/02/27/tom-davies-backed-everton-stardom-wonderkid-racks-half-century-epl-games) defeat to Watford and was [named](https://www.si.com/soccer/2018/02/27/tom-davies-backed-everton-stardom-wonderkid-racks-half-century-epl-games) by the CIES Football Observatory as the world’s seventh-most promising footballer under the age of 20.

He has scored just [one](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tom-davies/profil/spieler/314210) goal in seven appearances in all competitions this campaign.

> Tom is maturing into a proper player with his new strength and confidence. We should give other lads the chance and not let them leave.

> Just watched Howard’s way….it’s so important to have local lads in the team. Everyone gets on board with it more. I love this lad and hope he keeps going from strength to strength because that’s what Everton is
