# Everton fans react to Gylfi Sigurdsson’s Goal of the Month nomination

**During Everton’s trip to the King Power Stadium to face Leicester City last month, Gylfi Sigurdsson put the away side ahead with a beautifully caressed finish into the top corner, somehow struck with a mighty amount of venom.**

The score then remained 2-1 to Everton and the goal gained plaudits from football fans all over the country and beyond, in turn securing Marco Silva’s men a second successive Premier League victory, which was then followed by a 2-0 success over Crystal Palace a week later.

Since then, Sigurdsson’s wonder strike has been nominated for Carling’s Premier League Goal of the Month, with [the club announcing the Icelandic star’s nomination on their official Twitter handle on Friday](https://twitter.com/Everton/status/1058312765666922496).

Unsurprisingly, this recent announcement has stimulated quite a response from many Evertonians on Twitter, with some continuing to be mightily impressive with the 29-year-old’s sensational strike, and thus delighted with his nomination…

One fan felt that just winning the Goal of the Month does not serve the goal justice…

It was not just Everton fans that were stunned by the goal either.

> Even some of the [@LCFC](https://twitter.com/LCFC?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) fans behind the goal had to applaud it
