# Everton: Fans reflect on Romelu Lukaku’s time at Goodison Park

**As Romelu Lukaku celebrates his 27th birthday, Twitter account [@thetoffees\_com](https://twitter.com/thetoffees_com/status/1260449695949873157) have asked fellow Blues fans how they would describe the target man.**

The Belgian striker joined Everton in 2014 for a then-club record fee of £28m (via [BBC Sport](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/28569197)). Lukaku made the move from Chelsea and became a Goodison icon, scoring 87 goals in 166 appearances for the Toffees (via [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/romelu-lukaku/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/96341)).

After interest was shown from Manchester United three years later, Everton cashed in on their goal machine and earned £75m through the sale, plus £15m in add-ons (via [BBC Sport](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/40550934)).

However, Lukaku left a sour taste in some Evertonians’ mouths after he left and many are still unhappy with him. This shows in a lot of replies to the tweet calling for supporters to describe the Belgian in one word. One fan has said he was ‘wasted’ and ‘could have been a legend at Goodison’ whilst others have called him ‘arrogant’ and ‘lazy’. Read more of the best replies here:
