# Everton: Fans sarcastically comment that Marco Silva picked the team against Chelsea

**Everton may have [announced the sacking of Marco Silva](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11671/11829928/marco-silva-sacked-by-everton-after-liverpool-defeat) on Thursday but plenty of Toffees fans sarcastically remarked on Twitter that the club’s ex-manager picked their starting XI today.**

The team chosen by Duncan Ferguson for the visit of Chelsea to Goodison Park showed just [two changes from the Merseyside derby](https://www.skysports.com/football/everton-vs-chelsea/408134) in midweek, with [Theo Walcott and Morgan Schneiderlin coming in for Yerry Mina and Tom Davies](https://www.skysports.com/football/everton-vs-chelsea/408134). The club’s official Twitter channel [@Everton](https://twitter.com/Everton/status/1203275496328433664) shared the starting line-up an hour before kick-off.

One significant change that Ferguson did make, though, was to alter Everton’s formation to a [straightforward 4-4-2](https://www.skysports.com/football/everton-vs-chelsea/teams/408134) after Silva had [started with a 5-4-1](https://www.skysports.com/football/liverpool-vs-everton/teams/408129) in the defeat to Liverpool on Wednesday night, with [Richarlison being moved alongside Dominic Calvert-Lewin in a two-man attack](https://www.skysports.com/football/everton-vs-chelsea/teams/408134).

Despite the Toffees [shipping a heavy 5-2 defeat](https://www.skysports.com/football/liverpool-vs-everton/report/408129) to their neighbours at Anfield, Ferguson made just the two changes in personnel, prompting these Everton fans to take to Twitter and wonder if Silva was still picking the team:
