# Everton: Fans slam Alex Iwobi after Jay-Jay Okocha comments

**Many Everton fans have been left venting at Alex Iwobi after his uncle Jay-Jay Okocha spoke to [Goal](https://www.goal.com/en-us/news/arsenal-obliged-iwobi-to-quit-the-club-for-everton-okocha/1twif0zt4miij13xd45n4lqr7d) about his move from Arsenal to the Goodison Park faithful.**

Speaking to the news outlet, the footballing legend said: “The move from Arsenal to Everton wasn’t an easy one. He wasn’t expecting it, it just happened. He got a call that there’s a deal for him and that he must oblige that deal. I think that must have taken him 12 months to get over.”

A lot was expected of Iwobi at the Merseyside club given that he cost [£27.36m](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alex-iwobi/transfers/spieler/242631) to sign him from the Gunners, but he has never really been able to live up to his inflated price tag.

The 24-year-old has only managed to score a mere two goals and make a further two assists in 50 games in total in the Premier League for the Toffees over the last two consecutive terms ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alex-iwobi/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/242631/plus/0?saison=&verein=29&liga=&wettbewerb=GB1&pos=&trainer_id=)), which is simply not a good enough return for an attacking player.

Currently earning [£50,000 per week](https://www.spotrac.com/epl/everton-fc/alex-iwobi-22657/#:~:text=Current%20Contract,cap%20hit%20of%20%C2%A32%2C600%2C000.) at the Blues, the winger has been a total waste of money so far despite the occasional good performance.
