# Everton: Fans slam Rivaldo’s verdict on Real Madrid ace James Rodriguez

**Lots of Everton fans have slammed football legend Rivaldo’s verdict on the impending transfer of James Rodriguez to the Merseyside club from Real Madrid.**

According to a [tweet](https://twitter.com/pbsportswriter/status/1301561669143924741) from Sports journalist Paul Brown, the Brazilian claimed:

*“I still think he’s a big club player and, if he stays at [#Real](https://twitter.com/hashtag/Real?src=hashtag_click) he might well regain his place in the team.. I don’t think a move to Everton would be positive for him in this phase of his career.”*

Indeed, this is a big claim from a man who thrived in the attacking midfield role himself, winning the Ballon D’Or in 1999 as well as several other titles including the World Cup in 2002 and the Champions League with AC Milan a year later, as per [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/rivaldo/erfolge/spieler/3372).

However, it seems as if plenty of the Goodison Park faithful disagree with his verdict on Rodriguez, who is [reportedly](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/everton-fc-transfer-rumours/everton-fans-love-fabrizio-romanos-news-on-allan-james-rodriguez-and-abdoulaye-doucoure/) very close to signing for Carlo Ancelotti’s team.

The 29-year old would arguably be a statement signing from the Toffees given his pedigree, as he has two Champions League titles in addition to several other major trophies to his name (via [Transfermarkt)](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/james-rodriguez/erfolge/spieler/88103).

These Everton supporters slammed Rivaldo’s view on Twitter, as they perhaps feel that the Colombian international will have a positive impact on the Blues in the new season:
