# Everton: Fans think Robin Olsen should start v Manchester United

**Plenty of Everton fans think that Robin Olsen should start versus Manchester United following his interview with [Everton TV](https://www.evertonfc.com/news/1885088/goalkeeper-olsen-on-motivation-for-joining-everton).**

In the interview, the Sweden international said:

*“I came to Everton because I want to play.*

*“Everybody wants to play football – I will keep going and train hard and hope I will play again.*

*“It is nice to have my debut but I am disappointed about the result.”*

Indeed, Olsen came into the starting line-up in place of Jordan Pickford against Newcastle United and despite the 2-1 loss at St. James’ Park, the 30-year-old did not disappoint.

He made two saves in the game to keep the scoreline down and his post-shot expected goals minus goals allowed (PSxG+/-) ratio of +0.4 suggests that he had an above-average day in terms of stopping shots ([Fbref](https://fbref.com/en/players/e7ee38c3/all_comps/Robin-Olsen-Stats---All-Competitions)).

It is perhaps not a surprise then that several members of the Goodison Park faithful would like Olsen to keep his place in between the posts for the Merseyside club against Man Utd.

### Everton fan reaction to Olsen comments

These EFC supporters called for Olsen to start versus the Red Devils after reading his comments on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Everton/status/1323261704957034498), with one Toffee even claiming that the goalkeeper is ‘top class’:

> Needs to start against ManU. A goalkeeper who can catch crosses? That will do for me.

> Superb performance. Absolute class..We need someone with a cool head & a safe pair of hands between the sticks..and that is not Pickford! Hope you get the job full time!
