# Everton: Fans want Gabriel Magalhães to join in the summer

**According to reports, Everton are in talks with Lille over acquiring the services of centre-back Gabriel Magalhães (via [@NicoSchira](https://twitter.com/NicoSchira/status/1238994501148061696)).**

The Toffees have reportedly shown interest in the Brazilian and are willing to offer him a contract until 2025. The back four is an area that Everton have struggled with this season, with the likes of loanee [Djibril Sidibe coming under fire](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league/everton/everton-toffees-dont-want-waste-of-money-djibil-sidibe-to-stay/) for his lacklustre performances.

Mason Holgate has recently [signed a new five-year contract](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/mason-holgate-new-everton-contract-17857017) and fans are hopeful that Jonjoe Kenny will [return from his loan spell](https://twitter.com/Everton/status/1239226808228249600) with Schalke to help solve their defensive woes.

Signing a player of Magalhães’ calibre will mean adding a real wall in the centre of the back-line. Measuring at 6 foot 3, the 22-year-old could be vital in front of Jordan Pickford – this season the Brazilian is averaging 3.2 aerial duels won and 1.8 tackles per game ([via WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/334087/Show/Gabriel)).

Everton fans are loving the idea of signing Magalhães, with one supporter hoping to offload Michael Keane in the deal.
