# Everton: Fans want Mikel Arteta to replace Marco Silva as manager

**With constant [speculation surrounding the future](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/marco-silva-insists-did-not-17231056) of Marco Silva as Everton boss, after starting the season with five losses in eight games, fans have named their perfect successor.**

The Toffees have started the campaign in very slow fashion, [winning just twice in their last eight encounters](https://www.google.com/search?sxsrf=ACYBGNQg27SId7U61LiseqC30jn8_9CA6w%3A1573562233480&ei=eafKXe3zHNWX8gL2tLTgDA&q=everton&oq=everton&gs_l=psy-ab.3..35i39i70i253j35i39j0i67j0i131j0i67j0i131j0i67l2j0i131l2.1411452.1413148..1413449...1.1..0.97.585.7......0....1..gws-wiz.....10..0i71j35i362i39j0i131i67j0.FFjGVL3pcTA&ved=0ahUKEwitlNWP2OTlAhXVi1wKHXYaDcwQ4dUDCAs&uact=5#sie=t;/m/0mmd6;2;/m/02_tc;mt;fp;1;;), prompting large sections of supporters to dream of a possible managerial candidate that can take the mantle and guide them into Europe.

Despite winning their last match, [a 2-1 victory away to Southampton](https://www.google.com/search?sxsrf=ACYBGNQg27SId7U61LiseqC30jn8_9CA6w%3A1573562233480&ei=eafKXe3zHNWX8gL2tLTgDA&q=everton&oq=everton&gs_l=psy-ab.3..35i39i70i253j35i39j0i67j0i131j0i67j0i131j0i67l2j0i131l2.1411452.1413148..1413449...1.1..0.97.585.7......0....1..gws-wiz.....10..0i71j35i362i39j0i131i67j0.FFjGVL3pcTA&ved=0ahUKEwitlNWP2OTlAhXVi1wKHXYaDcwQ4dUDCAs&uact=5#sie=m;/g/11h3_z1nxz;2;/m/02_tc;dt;fp;1;;), some fans still think that a change is needed sooner rather than later, with journalist Duncan Castles[linking Manchester City assistant coach Mikel Arteta](https://twitter.com/DuncanCastles/status/1193905607205629955) to the role.

Arteta, who made 209 appearances for the Toffees during his playing career, finding the net 35 times and assisting 33 more, [as per Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mikel-arteta/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/7451), has been working under the tutelage of City boss Pep Guardiola for the past three seasons – helping to guide the Sky Blues to seven trophies in that period.

As a result, supporters want the Spaniard to replace Silva at the helm, and here’s what they said in full.
