Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure has been offered to Besiktas by his agent, according to reports.

The Lowdown: Contrasting claims

The Toffees star will be out of contract at the end of the season, meaning that he could leave Goodison Park as a free agent should the club not trigger the option to retain him in the Premier League for a further 12 months.

Football Insider have claimed that Sean Dyche is set to have the final say on whether he keeps or sells the 30-year-old beyond the upcoming summer window.

According to the same outlet since, the Mail international is expected to have his deal extended, though an update has now emerged contrary to those reports.

The Latest: Doucoure offered to Besiktas

According to Turkish outlet Fotospor (via Sport Witness), Doucoure’s agent has ‘offered’ his client to Besiktas.

The Merseyside outfit’s star could well make the move to the Vodafone Stadium should their manager Senol Gunes ‘approve’ the transfer, which he hasn’t yet done.

The Toffees are ‘unlikely’ to exercise the option to extend his stay on Merseyside despite becoming a regular feature since Dyche’s arrival in the dugout.

The Verdict: Keep hold of him

Doucoure has featured in all seven of Dyche’s games in charge so he clearly sees value in him, meaning that Everton should keep hold of him regardless of their league status.

The France-born talent has posted 14 goal contributions (six goals and eight assists) during his time in the northwest, where he’s currently this season’s fourth best-performing offensive player.

The Blues midfielder is also an extremely useful option for the manager to have at his disposal having operated in six different positions since the start of his career.

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp has been full of praise for him, stating:

"Abdoulaye Doucoure is the most under-rated midfielder in the Premier League. He is the sort of player I would hate to play against. He is like a marathon runner the way he covers so much ground."

Speaking in February, Dyche was impressed by what he’d seen from Doucoure so this could be a situation to monitor in the months ahead. He said:

“He’s certainly someone that could help the club going forwards. I think he has done very well. Different managers see different things, different managers want different things.

“I got here and either he saw it as a fresh chance. Then, it’s up to the players. They all respond to new manager changes in different ways. He has just responded very well so far – but I want him to continue in that vein.”
