Everton have reportedly now made a move to try and sign Luka Jovic in the summer.

The Lowdown: Out of favour

Jovic is currently out of favour at Real Madrid under former Toffees manager Carlo Ancelotti, playing in just 17 games in total over all competitions so far this season.

It just has not worked out for the Serbia international, who was called 'magical' by none other than Lionel Messi back in 2020, following a season at Eintracht Frankfurt where he notched up no fewer than 27 goals and made a further seven assists (Transfermarkt).

Former Frankfurt boss Adi Hutter even went as far as to claim that Jovic was a 'world-class' player last year, but he has not showed that kind of form since arriving at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The Latest: Everton move

As per Marca, the Goodison Park faithful have now 'moved' to try and sign Jovic this summer, along with Premier League rivals Arsenal.

AC Milan are thought to be 'attentive' to his situation at Los Blancos, while Borussia Dortmund are also said to be interested in his signature.

The Verdict: Risky

Signing Jovic would certainly be risky for the Merseyside club, given his alarming drop of form since signing for Madrid.

Earning a whopping £152,000-per-week in the Spanish capital, the 24-year-old is likely to demand a high wage to move to England, and regular game time.

With both Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison still at the Toffees, those demands may not be able to be met, and with the real possibility of relegation lurking as well, this is a deal that should be kept in the back pocket for now.
