Journalist Pete O'Rourke has shared that Everton could make a move for Blackburn Rovers striker Ben Brereton Diaz before next week's transfer deadline.

The Lowdown: New target

Italian football journalist and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported this afternoon that Brereton Diaz is now a target for the Goodison Park outfit.

Following the injury to Dominic Calvert-Lewin and the sale of Richarlison to Tottenham Hotspur, they desperately need to bring in a new striker before the transfer window closes.

The Latest: Move possible

When asked if he could see the Toffees making a move for Brereton Diaz, O'Rourke told The Transfer Tavern that he is 'definitely on their list':

"Yeah, he's definitely on their list, they do like Ben Brereton Diaz. He can play wide on the left like Richarlison used to for Everton, or he can play up front as well.

"He's somebody that Frank Lampard does admire, somebody who he thinks could be a good signing for Everton right now."

The Verdict: Get it done

The fact that Brereton Diaz can cover multiple roles like Richarlison used to is such a bonus for the Merseyside club, and so they need to get this deal done as soon as possible.

Hailed as a ‘beast’ by former Blackburn manager Tony Mowbray, Brereton Diaz scored an impressive 22 goals in the Championship last term, and he already has two to his name from his first five games in division this season (Transfermarkt).

The Chile international is clearly ready to make the step up to the Premier League, and if Frank Lampard's team can agree on a suitable fee with Rovers for him, then it could turn out to be a really shrewd piece of business.
