Director of Football Kevin Thelwell is reportedly considering signing Neal Maupay for Everton.
The Lowdown: Striker wanted
Given the injury to Dominic Calvert-Lewin, the Goodison Park outfit are looking for a new striker to lead the line in his absence, with the lack of a traditional number nine clear as day in an otherwise decent performance at Aston Villa on Saturday.
The Latest: Maupay considered
As per the print edition of The Daily Mail (via Goodison News), Frank Lampard and Thelwell are also considering a move for Maupay, alongside Adams and Ajorque, and are currently studying their options.
He has been linked with a move away from Brighton and Hove Albion, who are thought to be open to selling him in this window.
The Verdict: Worth a punt
Maupay has not exactly been the most prolific in the Premier League, with 26 goals over the last three seasons, but stretching back to his time at Brentford as well, he has been his club’s top scorer in all competitions for five years straight.
Hailed as an ‘exciting‘ player by former Seagulls ace Glenn Murray, the Frenchman is only 25 years of age, and so his best years are still ahead of him.
Incidentally, Maupay shares the same agent as Toffees winger Demarai Gray, and so coupled up with Brighton’s willingness to sell, this is a deal that could perhaps be pushed through relatively quickly.
