Everton insider 'The Bobble' has said that Dominic Calvert-Lewin could make his long-awaited comeback against Burnley.

The Twitter account, which is followed by renowned journalists such as The Athletic's Everton correspondent Patrick Boyland and The Times' Paul Joyce, tweeted on Monday evening that the striker was 'in contention' for the Boxing Day fixture.

As per The Bobble, the 24-year-old has returned to team training and is apparently feeling 'no discomfort from his injury'. Everton's medical staff will make a 'final decision' on his involvement closer to the trip to Turf Moor.

Calvert-Lewin played the first three Premier League games of the season, scoring in each one, but has since been sidelined with a fractured toe.

How big a boost will Calvert-Lewin's comeback be?

Everton have managed just 14 goals in the 14 matches they've played since losing last season's top scorer. For context, that's as many as 19th-placed Newcastle United have netted in the same period.

The Toffees are already without two striking options in Richarlison and Salomon Rondon, so Calvert-Lewin's return could be especially important.

Here's how some Everton fans reacted to The Bobble's "brilliant" update.

"Brilliant news but I would put him on the bench to ease him in as Mee and Tarkowski are hard men. Simms deserves a start."
