Journalist Simon Phillips has shared that Everton 'will listen to offers' of over £50m for Anthony Gordon.

The Lowdown: Bid rejected

Sky Sports have reported that the Goodison Park outfit have turned down a bid in the region of between £40-45m for Gordon from Chelsea.

Football Insider claim that the Blues are ready to increase their offer to £50m, so it may be difficult for the Merseyside club to keep hold of him before the transfer window shuts.

The Latest: Will listen to offers

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Phillips has shared that Frank Lampard's team 'will listen to offers' of over £50m for Gordon, but in an ideal world do not want to sell him:

“Everton don’t want to sell him. Frank Lampard, I’m told, sees Gordon as his talisman and doesn’t want to let him go, but every player has a price. And I’m told that Everton will listen to offers of over £50 million.”

The Verdict: Stand strong

The Toffees need to stand strong and keep hold of Gordon at all costs, even if Chelsea were to come in with a bid of over £50m.

They have already lost Richarlison to Tottenham Hotspur and Dominic Calvert-Lewin to injury, so losing Gordon as well would simply be devastating, with no real signs of a proper marquee replacement coming in for any of them.

Last season, he only missed three Premier League matches for the Blues, scoring four goals and making two assists, while he also picked up two man-of-the-match awards and ranked highly among his teammates in terms of average shots, key passes and dribbles per game (WhoScored).

Gordon is simply too important to this Everton team at the moment, and so they must keep him if they are to achieve their goals for this season.
