Darren Bent has outlined an 'issue' with Everton man Alex Iwobi as he has claimed that he does not show his talent on a more regular basis.

Speaking to Football Insider, the former Spurs, Aston Villa and Sunderland striker has suggested that the former Arsenal ace needs to perform on a more consistent basis:

“That’s the issue with him, that he doesn’t do it every week.

“He flatters to deceive every now and then and the quality isn’t always there with the final ball, sometimes he doesn’t even take up the invitation.

“We know he’s got endeavour, we know he works hard but at times he’s got to add quality to his game. If he does that, I think he’ll be a lot more effective.”

Iwobi needs to be more consistent for Everton

While he has shown in glimpses in the 2020/21 term as to why the Goodison Park faithful bought him, Iwobi certainly needs to be more consistent with his performances.

In 48 games in total in all competitions for the Merseyside club over the last two consecutive seasons, the 24-year-old has only managed to score a mere four goals and make just four assists (Transfermarkt), which is not really good enough for an attacking player.

With the likes of James Rodriguez and Richarlison playing in wide areas under Carlo Ancelotti, Iwobi certainly faces stiff competition to stake a regular place in the team, and will need to show his quality on a more regular basis as Bent suggests if the Italian boss is to continue to pick him.

Nonetheless, there is still half of the campaign to go in which the winger, currently valued at £22.95m by Transfermarkt, can show the Toffees what he is truly all about.
