Many Everton fans have been blasting the display of Gylfi Sigurdsson despite their side’s 2-1 away win over Wolves at Molineux in the Premier League.
The attacking midfield player did not have the best of games when asked to play further forward by Carlo Ancelotti, as he earned a very measly 6.4 overall rating on Sofascore, the joint-second lowest out of any of his teammates to have set foot on the pitch.
Should Everton cash in on Sigurdsson?
The Icelandic international lost out on all four of his duels in the match, and also failed to record a single shot, successful dribble or long ball, while also losing possession eight times (Sofascore).
The 31-year-old was taken off in the 76th minute by Richarlison after failing to make a real impact against Nuno Espirito Santo’s men, even having fewer touches of the ball than his own goalkeeper Jordan Pickford (Sofascore).
Everton fan reaction to Sigurdsson display
These Toffees supporters blasted his performance on Twitter, with one Blues fan even going as far to say as that he was ‘non-existent’.
“People having a pop at Tom Davies again……Sorry, but he was head and shoulders above Sigurdsson last night”
“That though doesn’t mean he’s good enough. They’re both not.”
“Siggy was non-existent so that wasn’t difficult. Davies just passes sideways and backwards when he does attempt to go forward his control of the ball is woeful and either over hits it and gives it away or runs down blind alleys. Sorry I don’t get it. Nowhere near good enough.”
“To be fair to Davies he never hides like Sigurdsson, always available! Sigurdsson offers nothing in any position he plays, he’s good at pointing though”
“I don’t think that’s a compliment to Davies. Last night I wasn’t convinced that Sigurdsson was even a footballer”
“They were both shocking. FACT”
“Carlo Ancelotti was levels above Sigurdsson and he wasn’t even playing.”
