Many Everton fans have been lauding the comments made by Anthony Gordon after the Merseyside club beat EFL League Two outfit Salford City 3-0 at home at Goodison Park in the Carabao Cup second round.
Michael Keane, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Moise Kean grabbed the goals on the night but Gordon’s display was one that particularly caught the eye.
The 19-year old registered one assist and had an 86% pass accuracy, while managing to make two key passes, according to Sofascore.
After the game, Gordon said in an interview: “For me, the more competition, the better, because I will only thrive off that and it will push me. If I can keep doing well, hopefully I can push on and play a lot this season.”
Indeed, these are encouraging words from someone so young and Carlo Ancelotti may be looking to give him more opportunities to play along with the likes of new recruits Abdoulaye Doucoure, Allan and James Rodriguez in midfield in order for him to learn and develop as a football player.
Should Ancelotti start Gordon more for Everton?
These EFC supporters lauded the comments from Gordon on Twitter, with a couple of Toffees labelling the Englishman as a ‘great prospect’:
With his attitude and desire the skill and goals will look after themselves great prospect.
