Lots of Everton fans have been left raging at some comments made by Sam Allardyce ahead of their away trip to West Brom in the Premier League.

As cited by the BBC, when asked about his time with the Goodison Park faithful, the Englishman said: "I would have liked to have stayed and had the investment they have had since."

This comment is quite strange considering that Allardyce did have over £40m to spend on both Cenk Tosun and Theo Walcott in just a single transfer window, so it is not as if he was not backed financially by the board at the Merseyside club. Of course, neither of those signings had any impact for the Baggies manager.

The 66-year-old also said: "I went there when they were struggling badly, rocking on the bottom of Premier League, and finished eighth. No-one at Everton expected that.”

The Toffees were actually 13th in the league table when Allardyce officially took charge of his first game against Huddersfield Town, and so several Blues supporters have perceived this as him exaggerating his achievements.

Nonetheless, EFC still managed to miss out on European qualification with a pretty measly 8th-placed finish at the end of the 2017/18 term (Sky Sports).

Everton fan reaction to Allardyce comments

These Everton fans slammed his comments on Twitter, with one supporter even going as far as to say that Allardyce was 'delusional':

"If you tell lies loud enough most people believe them, unfortunately the way of the world at the minute. Worst manager I’ve seen at the club."

"I don't know one Evertonian who was upset at Sam's sacking. Personally, I was jumping for joy. The worst football I've ever seen from the blues, and we played some poor football in the 90's. Also, he's as dodgy as sin and should never have been allowed to represent us."
