Frank Lampard could give Everton an edge in the race to sign Chelsea duo Armando Broja and Conor Gallagher, claims journalist Pete O’Rourke.
The Lowdown: Sought after talents
More recently, the Daily Star reported that Crystal Palace, West Ham and Everton are all keen on signing Gallagher on a permanent deal this summer.
Therefore, if Lampard decides to go all in for the Chelsea duo, then the Toffees will be up against heavy competition in the race to secure their signatures.
The Latest: O’Rourke’s claim
O’Rourke believes that a double swoop would be massive for Everton this summer, and he reckons that with Lampard in charge, the Toffees have an edge in the race.
Speaking with GiveMeSport, he claimed:
“It might give them an edge [having Lampard]. If both of those players were to leave Chelsea, maybe he could persuade them to move to Everton, and they’d be two massive signings if Everton were to get them.”
The Verdict: Great signings
Gallagher was extremely impressive during his loan spell at Selhurst Park this season, where he made 34 Premier League appearances for the Eagles, scoring eight goals.
According to The Guardian though, Thomas Tuchel is ready give the 22-year-old a chance with the Chelsea first-team, making the possibility of a Merseyside switch far from certain.
Broja, on the other hand, had a strong first half to the season, scoring five goals for Saints before Christmas. However, his second half to the campaign proved disappointing, with the player reportedly unhappy at the south-coast club.
Will Everton sign Broja and Gallagher?
A move away could reinvigorate the Albania international’s form, so a double swoop could prove to be massive for Lampard this summer.
