The Lowdown: Increasing pressure
The Toffees have had an extremely disappointing start to the season, with their results so far meaning that they find themselves in the Premier League relegation zone.
The Merseyside boss is therefore now under immense pressure, and whilst he hasn’t yet been relieved of his duties, it sounds like Farhad Moshiri is assessing his options at Goodison Park.
The Latest: Dyche keen to take over
According to The Sun, Everton have a ‘series of candidates’ ready to throw their name into the hat should the board ‘pull the trigger’ on Lampard, with Dyche leading the charge.
The former Burnley manager is said to be ‘keen’ on the opportunity to join and has been ‘waiting’ to make his much-awaited return to the top-flight having ‘snubbed’ multiple offers from the Championship.
The Verdict: Perfect candidate?
The 51-year-old has plenty of experience under his belt having overseen 258 Premier League games, not forgetting that he already holds an existing connection to a couple of the players.
James Tarkowski and Dwight McNeil are two of Dyche’s former Clarets from his spell at Turf Moor which lasted almost a decade, so should he take over, the familiarity with their style of play would already be there.
