Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed that Everton will get a huge boost as Lucas Digne is expected to come back from injury before the end of January.
Carlo Ancelotti had revealed earlier on in the week that the former FC Barcelona star was progressing at a faster rate than what was previously expected of him and that he may well be ready to play for the Goodison Park faithful by the end of the month.
Is Digne the best left-back in the Premier League?
Agbonlahor has since given his thoughts to Football Insider on the news as the former Aston Villa and England striker believes that the Merseyside club will receive a welcome boost upon his return from injury:
“He’s a natural left-back which is good.
“But for me, Everton have been doing so well with so many injuries so to get him back will be perfect and give them a boost.
“It will be a good thing for Godfrey to get a rest because he’s been playing a lot of football.
“You can’t beat a left-footed left-back, so yes, I’m sure they’ll be buzzing to get him back.”
Digne return a big boost for Everton
The return of the 27 year-old to the starting eleven for the Toffees will no doubt be a big boost in their hopes of qualifying for European competition for the 2021/22 term.
He has won no fewer than 5.4 of his duels a game in the Premier League so far in the 2020/21 campaign, as well as averaging a highly impressive three clearances, two key passes and 1.8 tackles per match on top of his four assists (Sofascore).
A more natural left-back than Ben Godfrey, the Frenchman would slot right back into the side and offer the Blues a lot more with regards to his attacking prowess.
