Everton have next big star in Isaac Price

Everton have next big star in Isaac Price -Everton News

Everton have an exciting young star on their hands in midfielder Isaac Price, with Toffees Under-21 coach Paul Tait waxing lyrical on his impressive progress.

The Lowdown: Price increase

Everton academy graduate Price has long been tipped as a future star and has showed that kind of promise over the international break.

The Toffees migrated to Australia for a pre-season-esque tour, and Price has been impressing with some standout displays.

In the 0-0 draw against Celtic, 19-year-old Price was hailed by boss Frank Lampard, who labelled him as the “best player on the pitch.”

The Latest: Tait’s praise

As per a report from The Athletic, Price has impressed both Lampard and Tait with his displays in both the first-team and reserve side.

Just a matter of days after returning from Everton’s tour of Australia, Price dropped back down to the U21 squad to partake in a 2-1 EFL trophy win.

The midfield starlet shone yet again and had Tait singing his praises, with the coach saying: “Isaac is making more passes than he’s ever made, having more touches, making more forward runs into the box, covering more distance and doing it quicker,”

First up in this Everton World Cup quiz, how many Toffees players are in England's squad for 2022?

“All his metrics have gone through the roof. It’s (due to) hard work and a bit of maturity. He’s at the age now where he’s starting to turn into a young man.”

“You need that belief, especially when you’re playing in the middle of the pitch and you have to take the ball in those positions.

“We saw it early in the season with Stan (Mills), Reece (Welch) and Isaac, they had that bit more drive to get where they want to get to (after training with the first team).

“I think Isaac shows that belief every time he plays.”

The Verdict: A big talent

With Price’s contract set to expire at the end of the season, Everton will be looking to tie the 19-year-old talent down on fresh terms.

They will not want to lose a potential megastar who could well shine in the heart of the Toffees engine room for years to come.

For Lampard, a midfield legend, to single him out for his performances in Australia, says it all, with Tait’s comments only enhancing his reputation.

You would expect Everton to nail him down to fresh terms and include some promises of first-team chances in any potential deal.
