Tony Scott has slammed Everton on the All Together Now podcast for seemingly only having one attacker on their January shortlist.

The Lowdown: Everton reaping what they sow

Everton were the only team in the entire Premier League to not sign a player last month which has certainly put them on the back foot in the race to avoid relegation this season.

The Toffees are now seeing how big of an issue that was with Dominic Calvert-Lewin out injured and has no clear return date being set by Sean Dyche, so bringing in a new attacker would have made a lot of sense.

One player that they were very keen on and close to signing last month was Arnaut Danjuma as he had seemingly had his medical and even done all the media bits with Everton, only for him to not return the next day and instead join Tottenham Hotspur.

The Latest: Danjuma was the only target

Scott has ripped into Everton's transfer strategy as they seemingly only had Danjuma on their list of targets as they were left with no options once the Dutchman joined Spurs instead.

He said: (2:00) "This football club have had since August last year to go scout and find centre forwards. There should be a list of at least 10 ready to go there's centre forward A who we think should be ready to come in and do a job on January 1st, there's person B, there's striker C, there's striker D and a list of 10.

"One is playing in Africa, one's playing in South America and one's playing in the Championship and you're telling me that they only had Danjuma and that was it in six months? That's disgusting if that's the case, it's disgusting and not how Premier League clubs [are run] and especially how multi-billion pound companies work anyway."

The Verdict: Nothing but negligence from Everton

The fact that Everton didn't move or even come close to landing another player after Danjuma turned them down would suggest that they had indeed spent all their time scouting him and put all their eggs in one basket.

That is simply unacceptable for a Premier League club to be run in that fashion and only points towards Everton going one way and that's down to the Championship under Farhad Moshiri.

While Danjuma would indeed have been a solid signing given that he was highly regarded, experienced in England and has played at the top level of European football, contingency plans have to be in place because weird things can happen in transfer windows.
