David Ornstein has claimed that Farhad Moshiri has made no progress on his sale of Everton.

The Lowdown: Moshiri is not close to an exit

It had been reported in 2022 that Everton were indeed up for sale as the Toffees faced relegation into the Championship and fan unrest threatened to boil over after fan protests.

However, despite some reportedly interested parties including Peter Kenyon who once tried to buy Newcastle United, Moshiri is still very much the supremo at Goodison Park with Everton enduring another relegation battle.

While some fans have urged for the board to be sacked after their 4-1 defeat at home to Brighton, it appears that is very far away from becoming a reality.

The Latest: Takeover talk no longer rife

Ornstein has insisted live on NBC Sports that while takeover talk was paramount last year, no progress has since been made on Moshiri's behalf, he said:

(1:05) "There are many Everton fans who are chanting vociferously to sack the board, well they're not going to sack themselves. We do know that Everton have been reportedly in takeover processes, but we haven't heard of developments on that front."

The Verdict: Survival has to be the priority

As things stand it appears very unlikely that anyone who values their time and money will be entering into talks with Moshiri to try and buy Everton as in just a few months time their value could plummet if they become a Championship outfit.

Therefore, Moshiri must forget about any potential sale of the club and instead back Frank Lampard, if he is to remain as manager, in this month's transfer market to ensure they have the best chance of staying in the Premier League.

Despite Everton having very little money to use in the transfer market Moshiri, Lampard and Kevin Thelwell must get creative in terms of how they structure deals for players this month and also not just go for established names, instead try and land some gems with smaller price tags.
