Everton: Noel Whelan urges club to follow through on Lucas Digne offer

Noel Whelan has urged Everton to follow through on their contract offer for Lucas Digne amid stories linking the full-back with a move to Manchester City.
As per the Daily Mail, Pep Guardiola’s team reportedly have a liking to the France international and may well make a move for him in the January transfer window.
Is Digne the best left-back in the Premier League?
Yes

No

However, according to Sky Sports, the Goodison Park faithful are set to offer Digne a new deal at the Merseyside club, which would surely fend off any interest from the likes of MCFC.
Whelan has since told Football Insider that Carlo Ancelotti’s team simply cannot afford to let him go while singing his own high praises for the former FC Barcelona man:
“Set pieces, free-kicks, he takes them. We’ve seen him get on the scoresheet. We’ve seen him with a couple of assists as well.
“He’s got a lovely left foot, he’s the right age with the right amount of quality.
“He’s been a standout, especially at the start of this season.
“You can’t afford to let these sort of players go or be attracted to other clubs. Ancelotti, realising that, wants to get him tied down as quickly as possible.
“They’re trying to build something really special at Everton…”
Everton need to keep Digne at all costs
The Toffees need to offer Digne whatever he wants as he is such a key player to them and a new deal would surely fend off any transfer interest.
The 27-year-old has won no fewer than 5.4 of his duels per match in the Premier League so far in the 2020/21 season, in addition to averaging a very impressive three clearances, two key passes and 1.8 tackles a game on top of his four assists (Sofascore).
Blues fans will be hoping that the left-back signs on the dotted line sooner rather than later.
