Manchester United winger Anthony Elanga is a player who is still 'appreciated' by Everton, according to an update from journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The Lowdown: Elanga linked with Everton move

Frank Lampard is surely desperate for some new signings before the January transfer window closes, with the Blues now in a genuine Premier League relegation fight.

Elanga has been linked with a move to Goodison Park recently, having found playing time hard to come by at United this season, making only five league starts.

The 20-year-could then feasibly be allowed to leave United this month and Everton still appear to be in the mix to sign him.

The Latest: Blues remain interested

Speaking to Give Me Sport, Romano said that the Blues still see Elanga as a potential option to bring in:

"They (United) have to decide what they want to do with Elanga, he was one of the players appreciated by Everton. Also, Facundo Pellestri did very well in the last game."

The Verdict: Good additional option

Elanga may not be someone who would set the world alight at Everton but he is a gifted young footballer who could bring depth to Lampard's squad.

Roy Keane has described him as 'very effective' and he is capable of playing in both wide areas and in a central role, giving the Blues versatility in the final third.

It could be that United sanction a loan move for Elanga rather than a permanent one, but either way, he is someone who could just give Everton that extra boost of quality that pulls them away from the relegation zone.
