Everton remain interested in sealing the signing of Lorient attacker Dango Ouattara in the January transfer window, according to a new update.

The Lowdown: Everton linked with Ouattara signing

The Blues are badly in need of some new signings this month, as they currently linger in the relegation zone.

One player who has been linked with a move to Goodison Park recently is Ouattara, who has stood out as one of Lorient's better players so far this season.

The 20-year-old has six goals and five assists to his name in Ligue 1 in 2022/23 to date, but it could be that a move to England comes to fruition soon.

The Latest: New update emerges

Taking to Twitter, journalist Ignazio Genuardi provided an update on the situation, saying Everton remain 'active' in their pursuit of Ouattara:

"After Leicester and Bournemouth , it's Everton's turn to tackle Lorient D. Ouattara. In parallel with the negotiations for Elanga and Danjuma, the Toffees have sent an offer for the hake nugget. This is considered insufficient, but the track remains active."

The Verdict: Great option for Blues

Ouattara could prove to be an inspired signing by Everton, bringing the attacking spark and end product that has so often been lacking at Goodison Park this season.

The 10-time capped Burkina Faso international has scored twice the number of league goals as any Blues players this season, with Anthony Gordon and Demarai Gray topping the charts with just three strikes each.

Ouattara is admittedly still young and raw, so he can't be expected to solve Everton's problems on his own, but he can thrive on either wing, and also centrally, so Lampard could him as an exciting and versatile addition.
