Everton: Blues could sign Michy Batshuayi as part of deal -Everton News

Everton could sign Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi as part of a deal that sees Anthony Gordon go the other way, according to a new transfer rumour.

The Lowdown: Gordon to leave Everton?

In recent days, speculation surrounding the youngster’s future has been rife, with both Chelsea and Newcastle United linked with moves for him.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Everton have already turned down a £40million bid for Gordon from the west Londoners but they could return with a bigger offer in the near future.

It looks increasingly as though the Blues could find it hard to keep hold of the 21-year-old, although it is claimed that they could sign a Chelsea man as part of the deal.

The Latest: Batshuayi linked with move

According to journalist Sacha Tovolieri on Twitter [via Sport Witness], Batshuayi ‘could be involved’ in a deal that sees Chelsea sign Gordon this summer.

Frank Lampard is believed to have ‘already validated the profile’ of the Belgian, who is currently out of favour at Stamford Bridge and spent last season on loan at Besiktas.

The Verdict: Much-needed firepower

While Batshuayi has struggled to ever make the grade at Chelsea, that’s not to say he couldn’t be an excellent signing for Everton, given his record throughout his career. He was once hailed as ‘incredible’ by Antonio Conte, during the Italian’s time as manager.

At 28, he is at a good age, in terms of being experienced but still in his prime, and a tally of 25 goals in just 45 caps for Belgium speaks volumes about his pedigree and ruthlessness in the final third.

In an ideal world, Everton would keep of Gordon and sign Batshuayi as well, but this would be a good compromise, with Lampard badly in need of a new striker after two goalless showings in the opening two Premier League games this season.
