Everton: Blues in the race to sign Terem Moffi - Everton News

Everton are one of a number of Premier League clubs interested in signing exciting Lorient striker Terem Moffi, according to a new transfer update.

The Lowdown: Everton lacking firepower

The Blues are in a dreadful run of form currently, with Frank Lampard’s side sitting 18th in the table and looking set for another tense relegation battle.

A lack of firepower has been an issue all season long – Anthony Gordon and Demarai Gray are Everton’s joint-top scorers in the Premier League with three goals apiece, which sums it up.

A new attacker is badly needed in the January transfer window and it looks as though they have their eye on Moffi.

The Latest: Blues linked with Moffi signing

According to Football Insider, the 23-year-old is wanted by the Blues, but they are battling with Newcastle United, Southampton, Aston Villa, West Ham, Leicester City and Bournemouth for his signature.

Moffi’s current Lorient deal expires at the end of next season, meaning the French side are running out of time to receive a sizeable fee for his services.

The Verdict: Great option for Lampard

Moffi could be exactly what Everton are looking for in this window, with the Nigerian already bagging 11 goals in 16 Ligue 1 starts this season, as well as being described as ‘superb’ by football talent scout Jacek Kulig.

While the step up to the Premier League is undeniably great, the Lorient man can’t do much worse than the Blues’ current options, with summer signing Neal Maupay netting just once in 13 league outings.

It clearly won’t be easy for Everton to get their man – Newcastle look a particularly exciting proposition at the moment – but Lampard may feel that Moffi can be the season-changing player he needs in the final third.
