Everton are reportedly eyeing up a potential move for Montpellier striker Elye Wahi.

The Lowdown: Man City point

The Goodison Park outfit earned themselves a good point away at Manchester City heading into the New Year, and now they will be looking to see if they can strengthen in the January transfer window in order to help them climb up the table.

Given Dominic Calvert-Lewin's injury problems, and the fact that they have one of the worst records for scoring goals in the Premier League, the Merseyside club could look to target a new striker to help Frank Lampard and his squad.

The Latest: Wahi interest

As per French news outlet Media Foot, the Toffees are 'strongly thinking' about a move for Wahi, with the forward valued at around €25m (£22.1m) by Montpellier.

However, Lyon are also monitoring his situation closely, and so the Blues will face competition for his signature.

The Verdict: Get it done

Everton should be doing all that they can to bring in a new striker in January, and Wahi looks like a player who could seriously help them out.

Hailed as a 'powerful, athletic and fast player with a range of dribbling skills' by ex-Caen academy director Francis de Taddeo, the 19-year-old recently became the second player to score 20 goals in Ligue 1 before his 20th birthday in the last forty years, after Kylian Mbappe, who had achieved this feat in 2017.

Seven of those have come this season already, and so Wahi could certainly be a worth a punt in terms of the Toffees bringing him into the Premier League.
