Carlo Ancelotti has revealed that he has problems communicating with Richarlison as the two do not speak the same language.
Ancelotti struggling with Richarlison
Richarlison’s English needs plenty of work, and while Ancelotti has managed in Italy, France and Germany, he has not had a job in Portugal and has therefore not been able to practice his Portuguese.
Speaking ahead of the Toffees’ match with Fulham on Saturday, Ancelotti revealed this has caused a problem in terms of his communication with the £54m-valued Brazilian (Transfermarkt). He said (via The Liverpool Echo):
“I speak to him every day, I don’t know.
“To talk with Richarlison is not easy because his English is not good, my Portuguese is so bad, so the communication is not so easy but I try to speak with him every day.”
Not being able to communicate does not make Ancelotti’s job any easier. Nowadays, though, the Italian should be able to make himself understood. There are others who do speak Portuguese at Everton, such as Andre Gomes and Bernard, who may be able to help translate when Ancelotti has something to explain.
Will Richarlison be at Everton next season?
With eight goals and three assists in 22 matches so far this campaign (Transfermarkt), it has been a solid season for Richarlison, if unspectacular. Whether his lack of top form is down to a problem understanding his manager’s instructions is unclear – Ancelotti will be hoping that his brace in the F.A Cup during their 5-4 win over Tottenham is the start of an upturn in form.
