Everton star Richarlison is scheduled to undergo his Tottenham medical but a final price is not yet 100 per cent agreed, reports The Athletic’s David Ornstein.
The Lowdown: Negotiations for Richarlison
According to The Athletic, the Toffees rejected a £40m bid for the Brazil international on Wednesday before Spurs returned with a more significant bid later on.
Another club are believed to have shown a late interest in the 25-year-old, but the Lilywhites remain on course to sign the Everton man.
It is understood that all parties involved now want the deal with Tottenham to go through.
The Latest: Ornstein’s news
Ornstein has now shared the latest news regarding Richarlison’s big move to North London. Taking to Twitter on Thursday, the reliable journalist confirmed a deal is practically done but the price is not yet settled:
“Richarlison scheduled to undergo medical today after Tottenham struck agreement in principle with Everton overnight to sign 25yo. Fee ~£50m + £10m add-ons but talks continue today to establish final price. Personal terms agreed.”
The Verdict: Big loss
When compared with positional peers across Europe over the past year, the Brazilian ranks in the 99th percentile for blocks, in the 95th percentile for tackles and in the 93rd percentile for interceptions (via FB Ref).
With the Toffees needing to balance the books after huge losses threatened sanctions by the league, Richarlison’s departure almost seemed inevitable, but to lose both a goal threat and a player who leads by example with his work rate will no doubt hurt.
Lampard will now have to invest the profits into the squad as efficiently as possible, so it is crucial these final talks result in the Blues squeezing every penny out of the deal.
