Everton have made their own offer for Armando Broja in response to West Ham's bid.

That's according to Di Marzio journalist Nathan Gissing (via Twitter).

The lowdown

West Ham have tabled an initial £25million for the Chelsea striker, who spent last season on loan at Southampton.

But Everton may need a new forward themselves after they sold Richarlison to Tottenham Hotspur for £60million.

The Brazilian was their main goalscoring outlet last season, finishing four clear at the top of the club leaderboard on 11.

It looks as if Chelsea may take some convincing to part with Broja, with Thomas Tuchel insisting publicly they have 'no interest' in sanctioning a deal right now.

The latest

Gissing has been 'told [that] Everton have made a bid' for Broja as well as West Ham.

He adds that the player 'needs to feel wanted if he is to stay' at Stamford Bridge beyond the summer.

The verdict

Broja could be an excellent long-term purchase for Everton.

He was Southampton's second-highest scorer last season with nine in all competitions and aged just 20, he can continue to get better and better.

Beyond goalscoring, the Albanian brings real running power - he ranks in the 81st percentile for dribbles completed and the 69th for progressive carries - and an excellent defensive contribution. He's in the top 30 percentiles for pressures, interceptions and tackles.

He's also an imposing aerial presence, winning 4.28 duels per game (86th percentile).

Incidentally, FBRef have him down as similar to Richarlison in his style of play, and perhaps that's Frank Lampard's thinking.

Now Everton face a dual challenge: persuade Chelsea to let him go, and convince the 'fearless' player - in the words of Valentino Livramento - to choose Goodison Park over the London Stadium.
