Marcus Bent has told The Transfer Tavern that he expects Everton to sell Fabian Delph this summer.
The 31-year-old still has 12 months remaining on his Goodison Park contract having been signed by Marco Silva back in the summer of 2019, but has slipped down the pecking order, and only oversaw just 261 minutes of Premier League football in 2020-2021.
Would Denzel Dumfries be a good signing for Everton?
Calf and hamstring injuries accounted for 10 missed matches, but often, Delph simply wasn’t used by Carlo Ancelotti, and at one point in the campaign went more than two months without being selected in a single matchday squad.
Delph, who has ultimately been a flop for the Merseyside outfit, arrived at Everton from Manchester City to improve his game-time, but has made just 30 appearances in all competitions, and has started just once in the Premier League in the last 16 months.
And with a host of central players now ahead the midfielder in the pecking order, former Evertonian Bent expects Delph to be moved on this window.
He exclusively told The Transfer Tavern:
“I think they will be looking to speak to him kindly and move him on. He will probably get a good move, but he’s on good wages.”
