Journalist Simon Phillips says that Everton are speaking to the agent of Anthony Elanga over a potential loan move from Manchester United in this window.

The Lowdown: Winger wanted

The Goodison Park outfit have been linked with moves for the likes of Club Brugge's Noa Lang and Almeria's Largie Ramazani in recent days, implying that they want to bring in a new winger in January.

The Merseyside club are reportedly paying particular attention to the loan market due to financial constraints, and Elanga also has admirers at the Toffees.

The Latest: Speaking to Elanga's agent

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Phillips says that Frank Lampard's team are 'making enquiries' over Elanga, and are 'speaking to his agent' over a potential loan deal:

“Everton are knocking on the door making enquiries. They are in the early stages.

“They are speaking to his agent regarding a loan move, I believe, at the moment. That’s the proposal they want to put together for him.”

The Verdict: Reinforcements needed

The Blues currently have one of the worst records in terms of scoring goals in the Premier League, which means that they sit dangerously above the relegation zone, and so need attacking reinforcements in January in order to shoot them up the table.

Hailed as a 'frightening' player by pundit Noel Whelan, and someone who possesses ‘plenty of speed‘ by top-flight legend Dwight Yorke, Elanga would add another dimension to Everton's rather timid frontline, and at just 20 years of age, he has plenty of potential.

As per FBRef, Elanga has registered more assists and a better pass completion rate per 90 minutes than Anthony Gordon, Demarai Gray and Andros Townsend so far this season, and so the Sweden international could slot straight into the starting line-up at Goodison.
