Sky Sports commentator Adam Bate spotted Frank Lampard fuming at Demarai Gray after he squandered a golden chance for Everton against Aston Villa.

The Lowdown: Another loss

The Goodison Park outfit slumped to another defeat in the Premier League as Villa defeated them in the lunchtime kick-off.

The visitors had plenty of chances to score, but were left to rue a lack of cutting edge once again without the presence of a natural striker up top, as Amadou Onana's forcing of a Lucas Digne own goal was the only real bright spot in an attacking sense.

The Latest: Lampard fumes at Gray

Reporting live from Villa Park for Sky Sports (13:18), Bate spotted Lampard fuming at Gray for a chance he squandered late on in the first half, when his team were 1-0 down due to Danny Ings' goal:

“Lampard cannot believe that. Any kind of decent touch from Gray there and he would have had a simple task to score from close range but the ball got away from him.”

The Verdict: Must do better

Gray will not need his manager to tell him that he simply has to do better in that kind of position.

Toffees journalist Joe Thomas described it as a 'massive chance', as the winger seemingly attempted to control a cross rather than just shooting first time.

Last season, Gray only managed five goals in total in the Premier League, and will no doubt need to work on his finishing in order to help the team out in Dominic Calvert-Lewin's absence.

Nonetheless, this should only accelerate the Blues' search for a brand new striker.
