Everton: Toffees fighting Leeds United to sign Martin Terrier -Everton News

Everton are reportedly now fighting Leeds United to sign Rennes winger Martin Terrier.

The Lowdown: Winger wanted

The Goodison Park outfit are trying to bring in a new winger this window, with Adnan Januzaj and Maxwel Cornet just two names to be recently linked with a move to Merseyside.

They are also reportedly in talks to sign Dwight McNeil from Burnley as well, having already secured the free signing of his former teammate James Tarkowski.

The Latest: Terrier interest

Taking to Twitter, The Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor has revealed that the Toffees, as well as Leeds, are now also ‘showing interest’ in Terrier, who is valued at around €40m (£33.6m):

“Everton & Leeds showing interest in Stade Rennes forward Martin Terrier, who hit 21 goals in Ligue 1 last season. Rennes executive president Olivier Cloarec is adamant 25-year-old, who is valued at around €40m, wants to stay.”

The Verdict: Get it done

Frank Lampard’s team have raised significant funds from the sale of Richarlison to Tottenham Hotspur, and with perhaps one or two more player sales, it could help them balance the books and then go all in for Terrier.

A player that Premier League legend Thierry Henry likes ‘a lot‘, the Frenchman scored an impressive 21 goals from out wide last season, while also contributing seven assists in all competitions (Transfermarkt).

If the Blues can come up with the right financial package, then they may be able to persuade him to join, especially with the attraction of playing in the top flight.

Nonetheless, with Leeds on their shoulders, this is a deal that they need to get done as soon as possible.
