Everton: Toffees hold interest in Piotr Zielinski ahead of summer

Everton reportedly hold a long-standing interest in Napoli central midfielder Piotr Zielinski ahead of a potential move this summer.
The Lowdown: Flying at Napoli
Zielinski is one of many players having an outstanding season at Napoli, where they sit comfortably 13 points clear at the top of the Serie A table and are also in the UEFA Champions League knockout stages after finishing top of their group, above Liverpool.
The midfielder has contributed a tidy six goals and eight assists, and has not missed a game so far this season.
The Latest: Everton interest
As per Italian news outlet Il Mattino, Everton, as well as bitter rivals Liverpool, have long held an interest in Zielinski, and could potentially make a move for him this summer.
The Poland international has always ‘dreamed’ of playing in the Premier League, and his future at Napoli is increasingly uncertain despite his great form because his contract expires next year.
The Verdict: Unrealistic
Unfortunately for the Goodison Park outfit, a move for Zielinski this summer just seems too unrealistic.
It is unlikely that the 28-year-old would want to drop from the highs of Napoli to a team in a relegation battle in the top flight.
Hailed as an ‘exceptional‘ player by former Poland manager Paulo Sousa, Zielinski has also been compared to Manchester City superstars Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden, and so would be sure to light up the Premier League.
However, the Toffees would likely have to be very persuasive to bring him to Merseyside this summer.
