Everton reportedly want to 'hijack' a move for Borussia Dortmund attacker Thorgan Hazard.

The Lowdown: Gordon replacement needed

Everton confirmed that winger Anthony Gordon had left the club to join Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon, leaving them just two days to find a replacement.

They were already struggling in the final third before Gordon's departure, scoring just 15 goals in 20 games in the Premier League so far this season, the second-fewest of any team in the division.

The Latest: Hazard interest

As per Dutch news outlet AD, the Goodison Park outfit want to 'hijack' a deal for Hazard, who PSV are trying to sign.

They too want to bring in an attacker having lost both Cody Gakpo and Noni Madueke to Liverpool and Chelsea respectively, so it could be a fierce battle for his signature come the deadline.

The Verdict: Get it done

At 29 years of age, Hazard has plenty of experience of playing at a high level, making his name in the Bundesliga while also playing UEFA Champions League football and earning 47 senior caps for the Belgium national team, where he has recorded 17 goal contributions and featured in the last two FIFA World Cups (Transfermarkt).

At club level, Hazard has amassed a further 180 goal contributions, taking his goal and assist tally to an impressive 197 over the course of his senior career.

He has mainly operated on the wings, but has also dropped as far as full-back over the course of his career, making these numbers even more impressive.

Hailed as an 'excellent footballer' with 'good technique' by his former Dortmund coach Marco Rose, Hazard could add the kind of guile and cuteness in and around the penalty box that the Toffees need, and is more than capable of filling Gordon's boots.
