Everton: Toffees ‘interested’ in Kamaldeen Sulemana

Everton: Toffees 'interested' in Kamaldeen Sulemana - Everton News

Everton are reportedly ‘interested’ in signing Rennes winger Kamaldeen Sulemana after missing out on Arnaut Danjuma to Tottenham Hotspur.

The Lowdown: Danjuma joins Spurs

Tottenham confirmed the signing of Danjuma on loan from Villarreal on Wednesday afternoon, after he had reportedly had a medical at Everton, and was even pictured wearing a Toffees shirt.

Losing out on the deal after being so close would have hurt them, and now it looks like they have moved on to other targets to improve the forward options at the club.

The Latest: Sulemana interest

As per French news outlet L’Equipe, Rennes have rejected two offers for Sulemana from PSV and Southampton worth €15m + €2m in add-ons and €17m (£15m) in total respectively.

The Goodison Park outfit are also now ‘interested’ in his signature however, after missing out on Danjuma.

The Verdict: Get it done

After losing out on Danjuma, and with just a few days left of the transfer window remaining, the Merseyside club simply need to get this deal done as soon as they can.

Hailed as an ‘enormous talent’ by Football Talent Scout Jacek Kulig, and ‘technically skilled’ with ‘a lot of speed’ by Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag (Football Ghana), Sulemana is rated very highly, and has managed six goals and four assists for Rennes over the last two seasons so far (Transfermarkt).

Of all his positional peers in Europe’s top five leagues over the past year, the 20-year-old ranks in the 98th percentile for dribbles completed per game, as well as 90th for assists, while he also excels in his defensive duties, sitting in the 99th percentile for interceptions and 95th for tackles per match (FBRef).

Nonetheless, Sulemana could be a great alternative to Danjuma, should the Blues be able to get a deal over the line.
