Everton: Pete O’Rourke reacts to ‘huge’ Dominic Calvert-Lewin boost -Everton News

Journalist Pete O’Rourke has been reacting to the latest Everton injury news involving star striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

The Lowdown: Back in training

It was reported last week that Calvert-Lewin is now back in training at Finch Farm, after missing the opening few weeks of the season through injury.

After the sale of Richarlison to Tottenham Hotspur as well, the Goodison Park outfit brought in striker Neal Maupay from Brighton and Hove Albion as cover up top, but now Calvert-Lewin will be hoping to get back into the side as soon as possible and make a swift recovery.

The Latest: ‘Huge’ news

The striker was spotted in full action once again on Thursday, and speaking to The Transfer Tavern, O’Rourke has claimed that it is ‘huge for Everton and Frank Lampard’:

I think it’s huge for Everton and Frank Lampard if they can get their number one striker back in that starting eleven, and if they can provide the supply, I’m sure Dominic Calvert-Lewin will be able to get goals for this Everton side.

“They are improving I think after a slow start, and I think he could be the catalyst for maybe an upturn in results.”

The Verdict: Massive boost

Of course, having their talisman back in training is a massive boost for Lampard and his team.

Before another injury-hit season last campaign, the Englishman reached double figures for goals in the Premier League in each of the last two seasons (Transfermarkt), and the Merseyside club have struggled to score goals so far this term, with just four in their opening six top-flight games.

Calvert-Lewin is also the focal point needed in order to bring the likes of Anthony Gordon and Demarai Gray into play, and so the Toffees will be praying that he can stay fit from now until the end of the campaign.
