Everton: Turkish club have ‘launched’ late Andros Townsend bid -Everton News

A club in Turkey have ‘launched’ a late bid to try and sign Andros Townsend from Everton before their transfer deadline.

The Lowdown: Rondon interest

It has recently been reported that Salomon Rondon has opened talks with a number of clubs in Turkey over a potential move.

Adana Demirspor are one of a few sides keen on signing the Venezuela international, and have registered their interest in getting a deal done before today’s deadline.

It appears he may not be the only departure from Goodison however ahead of the Turkish deadline on Thursday evening.

The Latest: Townsend bid

As per Turkish news outlet Fanatik (via Sport Witness), Trabzonspor have ‘launched’ a late bid for Townsend, and he is the ‘surprise name’ on their list of targets.

Given that he is in the last year of his contract at Goodison Park, the transfer fee is unlikely to be too high, and Trabzonspor have been offered the winger as he looks to leave the Merseyside club.

The Verdict: Time to go

Given that he is 31 years of age now, and has not played since March through injury, now is the best time to let Townsend go.

Frank Lampard’s team already brought in Dwight McNeil from Burnley to further add to his options on the flanks, meaning that it will be more difficult for Townsend to get back into the side once he returns.

Nonetheless, he is in the final year of his deal, so the Toffees should look to get a fee for him now at the risk of losing him for free next summer.
