Everton: Toffees gifted Abdoulaye Doucoure injury boost -Everton News

Everton have been gifted another injury boost before they play West Ham United at home in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

The Lowdown: Calvert-Lewin ‘close’

Speaking to the media in his pre-game press conference ahead of the match, Frank Lampard revealed that Dominic Calvert-Lewin is ‘close‘ to coming back from injury, adding that he is in contention to start at Goodison Park.

The striker has missed the opening few weeks of the new season, but has reportedly been back in training as he looks to get back to full fitness.

The Latest: Doucoure ‘fit’

During his press conference, Lampard revealed that Abdoulaye Doucoure is also ‘fit‘ enough to be in the squad, after missing the last five matches in all competitions with a hamstring injury:

“Doucs is fit to be in the squad.”

The Verdict: Big boost

There is no doubt that having Doucoure back alongside Calvert-Lewin is a big boost for the Merseyside club.

The central midfielder has ranked highly among his teammates in terms of aerial duels won per game in the top flight this campaign, and is also near the top for average tackles, shots, dribbles and pass completion (WhoScored).

Nonetheless, if both Doucoure and Calvert-Lewin are fit enough to start for the Toffees, then they will have a stronger spine and a better chance of clinching all three points in front of their home supporters.
