Everton have agreed a deal to sign Dele Alli from Tottenham Hotspur, Fabrizio Romano reports.

The lowdown

Everton are already poised to make Manchester United's Donny van de Beek their fourth signing of the January transfer window.

The Dutchman will join on loan for the remainder of the campaign, following Anwar El-Ghazi, Nathan Patterson and Vitaliy Mykolenko through the door.

The Toffees are trying to furnish new manager Frank Lampard with the strongest possible squad so that can he steer them away from the lower reaches of the table.

The latest

According to Romano, 'full agreement [has been] reached' between Everton and Tottenham, and so it's a 'done deal'.

"Dele Alli to Everton, done deal and here we go! Full agreement reached with Tottenham, permanent move subject to medical in the next few hours," the reporter said.

"It’s done. Frank Lampard wanted Dele after van de Beek - official announcement later today"

The verdict

What is a sensible fee to pay for a player like Dele? Well, first and foremost, he's under contract for another two and a half years, so Spurs are in a strong position from that point of view.

But Everton will have also been aware that he isn't part of Antonio Conte's plans going forward, so even without a mention of a fee from Romano you'd have to assume the Blues are getting a shrewd deal.

Conte left the 6 foot 2 ace out of the match-day squad for Tottenham's most recent Premier League game against Chelsea and hasn't used him in the top flight at all in 2022.

Transfermarkt value the 25-year-old at £22.5million, which may be a little excessive given his place in the Lilywhites pecking order, even if he is a player who once recorded 31 goal involvements in a single season (2017/18).

Providing the medical goes ahead without any hitches, Blues fans will be eager to see if the former England golden boy can revive his career at Goodison.

In other news, could this midfielder also be on EFC's Deadline-Day radar?
